Tata Motors will soon launch the electric version of the Nexon facelift, what are your expectations?

New Delhi : Tata Motors is all set to launch the facelift model of India’s best-selling electric car Nexon EV as well as its ICE variants next month. The carmaker will launch both the vehicles on September 14, just before the festive season. The Nexon EV will get its first major update after its launch in 2020. The electric SUV along with its ICE variants has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times. Changes have been made in the interior and exterior designs before the official launch.

how will be the design

The biggest change in the Tata Nexon EV facelift will be how it looks. The design of the new Nexon EV is inspired by the Curve concept electric vehicle showcased by the carmaker last year. Apart from this, there are indications that it will be influenced by the design of the Harrier EV as well. It is clear from the spy shots that the Nexon and the Nexon EV will come with a new set of split LED headlight units as well as a new LED DRL design, which looks sporty. Other changes at the front include a new grille and bumper. The grille on the Nexon EV facelift is expected to be a one-off unit. The rear of the Tata Nexon EV facelift will get redesigned LED taillights and new bumpers. At the sides, the electric SUV will sit on a set of newly designed alloy wheels.

Nexon EV facelift interior

The interiors of the Nexon EV facelift and its ICE model will also be updated to a great extent with fresh elements. The biggest change is going to be the new 10.25-inch digital touchscreen display at the centre. This is bigger than the 7-inch display offered in the current generation of Nexon SUV. The digital driver display has also been updated. Other major changes expected inside include a new two-spoke steering wheel and new upholstery. Now if we talk about its features, the Nexon EV facelift is expected to offer six airbags, 360 degree cameras at both ends and parking sensors as standard.

Nexon EV facelift battery

There is no possibility of any change in the size of the battery in Tata Motors’ Nexon EV facelift. At present, two sets of battery packs have been used in it. It has a 30.2 kWh battery pack, which can give a range of up to 312 kilometers on a single charge. The larger 40.5 kWh unit used inside the Nexon EV Max can provide a range of up to 453 km.

Nexon EV gives rise to Tata Motors in electric segment

The Nexon EV has almost single-handedly catapulted Tata Motors to the top of the EV segment in India. Out of the one lakh units sold by the carmaker, the Nexon EV has contributed to more than half of its total EV sales in the last three years. In the EV segment, it competes with MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona.
