Tata Motors unveils Nexon facelift SUV, bookings will start from this date

New Delhi : Tata Motors has unveiled the Nexon facelift SUV (Sports Utility Vehicles) ahead of its launch in India on September 14. In its new avatar, the Nexon facelift SUV looks completely different from the existing model. Still, it may retain the coupe-like profile that is associated with sub-compact SUVs. Along with new features, the interior has also received major updates. However, the company has not made any changes under the hood. When launched, it will compete with other cars like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Booking will start from 4th September

Tata Motors will start booking for the 2023 Nexon facelift SUV from Monday, September 4. Deliveries are expected to begin later this month. The new Nexon SUV will be available in 11 different variants with the new nomenclature. Instead of naming the variants with ‘X’, Tata Motors has given a name to each variant. These include Smart, Smart Plus, Smart Plus(S), Pure Plus, Pure Plus(S), Creative, Creative Plus, Creative Plus(S), Fearless, Fearless(S) and Fearless Plus(S). It will be available in six color options, which include Fearless Purple, Pure Grey, Creative Ocean, Flame Red, Daytona Gray and Pristine White.

Tata Nexon facelift SUV: Exterior design

The design of the Tata Nexon facelift SUV is inspired by the Curve concept vehicle previously showcased by the carmaker. With new elements, the look of Nexon has now become sportier and sharper than before. What first catches the eye are the new LED signature DRLs, which come with a sequential pattern. The SUV also gets a new LED split headlight unit. To give a bold look to the Nexon facelift, the grille has also been reworked and has now been made larger. The bumper has also been updated with chrome garnish.

The Nexon facelift looks similar to the existing Nexon SUV from the sides with minor changes in its size. The only changes here are the new character lines and the design of the alloy wheels, which remain the same size as before. Even the ground clearance of the Nexon facelift is 208 mm. At the rear, the SUV gets a reworked LED taillight unit with an LED bar running across the width of the vehicle.

The changes inside the cabin of the 2023 Nexon facelift SUV are bigger than those on the outside. The entire dashboard including the display, steering wheel and other elements have undergone massive changes. The first thing that will catch the eye is the new-look two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel setup. The panel has mounted touch-based controls and the Tata Motors logo, which offers a premium look. The infotainment screen has also been updated with the same floating 10.25-inch unit borrowed from the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition. This display is compatible with Tata’s iRA connected car technology. The digital driver display has also been updated with a customizable navigation feature.

Tata Nexon facelift SUV: Features

In terms of the overall design of the dashboard, the new Nexon facelift is quite different from the existing model. Center console, which houses most of the manual controls. It has less physical buttons. Instead, there are touch controls, which light up during use. Tata Motors has made the AC vents slimmer and added leather, chrome and a gear lever with Nexon EV-like drive select knob on the dashboard. The upholstery has also been updated with the fresh interior color theme. Tata Motors has introduced some new features in the Nexon facelift SUV. These include 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, which also get height adjustable facility for the first time. Other features include wireless charging, automatic climate control, electric sunroof and cruise control feature.

Tata Nexon facelift SUV: Security features

The Nexon SUV is one of the safest models from the carmaker. The facelift variant is also expected to come across a host of safety features like six airbags, front parking sensors, ISOFIX seat mounts for children and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard.

Tata Nexon facelift SUV: Engine, transmission options

The Nexon facelift SUV will continue to be offered with the same petrol and diesel engines. What has changed is the choice of transmission units. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit, which can generate 120 hp of power and 170 Nm of peak torque, now comes with four transmission options. These include five-speed manual, six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and a new 7-speed DCT gearbox with paddle shifters. 1.5-litre diesel unit, which can generate 115 hp power and 160 Nm peak torque. The six-speed manual and six-speed AMT gearboxes are offered with the same set of options.
