Surge in Gandak and Punpun rivers, 1 lakh 63 thousand cusecs of water released from Valmikinagar Barrage

Due to continuous rains that started from Sunday in the water acquisition areas of India-Nepal border, the water level of Gandak Barrage has again started scaring the people living in the coastal areas. There is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers due to the possibility of flood water entering the village. By 3 pm on Wednesday, about 1 lakh 63 thousand cusecs of water was released into the Gandak River from the Gandak Barrage. Due to which water logging has started in the neighboring areas of neighboring state Uttar Pradesh including the coastal forest areas. The total water level of Gandak Barrage was recorded at 1 lakh 63 thousand. Due to which the problems of the villagers have increased. The same water will enter Jhandu Tola village and SSB camp premises as soon as there is a partial rise in the water level. According to the officials of Gandak Barrage, life in the Terai and hilly areas has become disrupted due to continuous intermittent rains in Nepal.

The water level of Gandak Barrage is continuously increasing since Tuesday.

Due to the water released from Nepal, the water level of Gandak Barrage is continuously rising since Tuesday. Due to the flow of water released from Narayan Ghat of Nepal flowing through Gandak Barrage, it has become a threat to the people living in low-lying areas. People are suffering from unknown fear and apprehension. Irrigation Department Executive Engineer Rajjan Shamim said that it is raining intermittently and continuously in the Terai and hilly areas of Nepal. It takes about six to eight hours for the water released from Narayan Ghat to reach Gandak Barrage. In view of the rains in Nepal, the possibility of increasing the water level of Gandak Barrage cannot be ruled out. It is feared that by Wednesday night the water level of Gandak Barrage will cross 2 lakh 50 thousand. All the personnel of Gandak Barrage have been kept on alert.

Due to increase in water level in Punpun river, river water entered many villages

Trouble has increased in rural areas due to torrential rains in Obra block of Aurangabad district for the last four days. Punpun river is in spate. Punpun water has entered many villages. Farmers are suffering the most losses. The movement of people of many villages passing through the Koraipur Punpun river ghat located at the headquarters is also disrupted. The movement of people of many villages including Koraipur, Amilauna, Usrumbha, Medan Kaithi, Kajhwan is disrupted due to the storm in the river. It is known that due to low water level of the river, people of the said area used to travel to Obra market with the help of boats. But, it has just been interrupted. Especially school children are greatly affected. They are not able to go to school.

Boat operation in the river also stopped

In view of the rising water level, boat operation in the river has also been stopped. The water level of Domuhan has also increased significantly. The crops of the farmers in the river valley have failed. Villager Manoj Tiwari, PACS President Gaurishankar Yadav, Mithilesh Singh, Chief Dr. Tarakeshwar Kumar, Kumud Ranjan, Pareekha Yadav and others say that due to the strong storm in the Punpun river, people are facing a lot of trouble in coming to Obra market. From Koraipur village, one has to go to Obra market via the main road via Kharanti, covering a distance of about eight kilometers. The attention of former MP of Karakat Lok Sabha constituency Upendra Kushwaha and current MP Mahabali Singh was drawn regarding the construction of a bridge in the river in front of Obra Chhath Ghat i.e. Koraipur village. Assurance was also given. But, nothing has happened till now. In the upcoming elections, the villagers of the respective villages will cooperate with the public representatives only after the construction of the bridge.
