Supreme Court issued notice to Jharkhand government, said this…

Ranchi: The Supreme Court heard the SLP filed in the matter of inclusion of CTET and TET pass candidates from neighboring states in the Jharkhand Preliminary Assistant Professor Combined Competitive Examination. After hearing the applicant’s side, the division bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arvind Kumar issued a notice to the Jharkhand government and directed it to file an affidavit. The next hearing of the case will be after two weeks. Earlier, while appearing on behalf of the applicants, senior advocate Gopal Shankar Narayan and Jharkhand High Court advocate Amritansh Vats told the division bench that the Jharkhand High Court had passed the order in the PIL in December 2023. Orders were given to include candidates who are local residents of Jharkhand who have passed CTET and have passed TET from neighboring states in the Assistant Professor Combined Competitive Examination. Jharkhand High Court does not have the authority to take such policy decisions. This is wrong. JTET candidates have the knowledge of the regional and tribal languages of Jharkhand like Santhali, Khortha, Nagpuri, Ho, Kudmali etc. because they have given the exam, but the JTET candidates have knowledge of only Hindi or English as the regional language. When CTET pass teachers are appointed in the primary schools of the state, they will face difficulty in imparting education to the children in the local language. This will also be a violation of the Right to Education Act. He urged to cancel the High Court order. It is noteworthy that SLP has been filed on behalf of JET pass candidate Parimal Kumar and 1300 other candidates. He has challenged the decision of Jharkhand High Court and demanded its repeal.

what did the high court say

On December 22, 2023, the Jharkhand High Court had passed an order in the PIL filed by CTET Passed Candidates Association and others, saying that local resident candidates of Jharkhand who have passed CTET and have passed TET from neighboring states should be included in the Assistant Professor Combined Competitive Examination. If such candidates are appointed to the post of teacher, they will have to pass the JET exam in the first attempt within three years. If Jharkhand Government does not conduct JETT examination in three years, then this condition will not be applicable on the candidates. Candidates will be given three months time to prepare for the Assistant Professor exam.
