Storm and rain caused havoc in Jharkhand, two died in Dhanbad, there was power failure in many districts.

Ranchi: Heavy damage has been reported in many districts of the state including the capital Ranchi due to rain coupled with strong wind late Saturday night and Sunday evening. One person died after being crushed by a tree in Latehar. Whereas, in Dhanbad one person died due to electrocution. The weather changed in the capital Ranchi at night for the second consecutive day. Dozens of trees were uprooted at many places in the capital due to rain coupled with strong wind. Branches broke at many places.

The tents of Eid Expo near Risaldar Baba Mazar of Doranda were uprooted. Many people got crushed and injured in this. He was treated at Anjuman Hospital. Electricity supply came to a standstill in more than half of the areas of Ranchi, at some places there was a line break down, and at some places a tree fell on the wire. Due to large scale distribution line trip, electricity was disrupted in many localities. At many places including Doranda, Hinu, Dhurwa, LT lines and poles were down.

Jumper and insulator were damaged. Hailstorm also occurred in some areas including Sail City, New Pundag. Due to the lightning, 33 KVA high capacity power lines from all the grids got tripped. Electricity remained disrupted for an hour in Ranchi’s Piska Mod, Ratu Road, Pandara, Kanke Road, Kanke, Harmu, Argora, Ashok Nagar, Dhurva, Doranda, Hinu, Main Road, Lalpur, Kokar, Bariatu.

Here, due to fallen wires and towers, there was a blackout situation in Palamu division for more than 20 hours. Due to breakage of overhead wire of railway line in Koderma, the operation of trains was disrupted for 1:30 hours. An electric wire broke and fell on a tempo near the Bajrang Bali temple located in Lal Bazaar, Rajganj, Dhanbad. Shrikant Kumar (41), who was sitting in the tempo, died after being hit by it.
