Anil Tiwari, Bandgaon: The three-day state level hockey competition concluded in Bandgaon, West Singhbhum. This competition was held in Losolikir village of Tebo Panchayat. The chief guest of the closing ceremony was social worker Dr. Vijay Singh Gagrai. The final match was played between Saikata hockey team and Tutuyu hockey team of Khunti district. The team could not score a single goal till the stipulated time. After which an attempt was made to determine the result of the match by conducting a penalty shootout. Where the score of both the teams remained equal. After this it was decided to find out the result of the match through lottery. In which Tutuyu hockey team of Khunti became the winner. The chief guest honored the winning and runner-up teams with prizes.
After the match, Dr. Vijay Singh Gagrai while addressing the people said that hockey is an international game. It is played on a large scale in Bandgaon block. The players here have also played hockey in the country and abroad. Which is a matter of pride for us. He said that the physical and mental development of a person who actively participates in sports or activities is better than others.
It gives us a chance to learn a lot of essential things in life. It helps in developing our personality, confidence level and maintaining physical and mental balance. Sports helps us to face difficult situations in life and makes the body and mind stress free. Sports develop the spirit of friendship and promote the habit of working together.
He said in the modern education system, sports have been made an integral part of education to make it more interesting. Let us tell you that 24 teams participated in the hockey competition. Many people including Chief Representative Mangra Odia, Sirka Toppano, Eleazar Hans, Suleman Hans, Bhimsen Bodra, Dubey Bodra, Djiyal Hans, Lutar Hans, etc. contributed in making the program successful. Thousands of villagers were present in the sports competition.
