Ranchi: A state level farmers fair will be organized from March 2 at BAU (Birsa Agricultural University) located in Kanke in Ranchi district of Jharkhand. The three-day fair will conclude on March 4. With the objective of making the farming community aware of the latest technologies of agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, biotechnology, food processing, pisciculture, dairy technology, agricultural mechanization etc., the state level Agrotech Kisan Fair will be organized by Birsa Agricultural University in the main courtyard of the university located at Kanke. . A cultural program will be presented by the students on the evening of March 2 and 3. There will also be a women farmers seminar in the farmers fair.

BAU Vice Chancellor Dr Sunil Chandra Dubey said that this year the theme of the Kisan Fair has been kept as ‘nutrition, income and employment promotion through agricultural innovations’. Apart from various departments of BAU, Faculties, Regional Research Centres, Agricultural Science Centres, ICAR institutes located in the state, many departments of the state government, banks, insurance companies, voluntary organizations and manufacturers of agricultural products, about 1250 pandals will be organized in the fair. And vendors will showcase their technologies, products and services. Thousands of farmers, brothers and sisters, agricultural officers, extension workers and other stakeholders of agricultural development coming to the Agrotech Kisan Mela will get information about the latest technologies and will also exchange their knowledge and experience.

Women farmer seminar and cultural program also organized

A grand horticulture exhibition consisting of fruits, flowers, vegetables, spices, medicines, aromatic and ornamental plants and processed materials of horticultural crops and animal and bird exhibition consisting of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig, hen, duck etc. is also organized. This will be done in this three-day fair. Women farmers seminar will be held on March 3, the second day of the fair. Farmers coming from different districts will also visit the technology park and various fields of the university with the aim of seeing the live technology firsthand. Video shows based on agriculture and allied technologies will also be organised. A cultural program will be presented by the students of the university for the farmers and other visitors on the evening of March 2 and 3.
