According to the news of ‘Geo News’, a spokesperson of the Punjab Prisons Department (PPD) said that all the facilities have been provided to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief under Rule 257 and 771 of the Pakistan Prison Rules, 1978. Attock Additional District and Sessions Judge Shafqat Ullah Khan had visited 70-year-old Khan’s cell in Attock Jail and found his complaints and concerns about the living arrangements and lack of privacy in the jail to be “valid”, leading to This clarification of the spokesperson has come later.

The judge expressed concern that there is no privacy for Khan in the toilet. On this, the spokesperson said that a new toilet has been made in the PTI chairman’s cell. He said that the wall of the toilet is five feet high and a door has also been installed. He said that western commode and basin for washing hands have also been installed in the toilet. During his meeting with the judge, Khan raised significant concerns about the CCTV camera installed at a distance of five to six feet in front of the prison bars, which covers an open bathroom-cum-toilet.
Regarding the CCTV cameras, the spokesperson said that these are installed outside the room. The statement said that for the security of Imran Khan and the jail, CCTV cameras have been installed outside his room. For security purposes, more than 4,000 CCTV cameras have been installed not only in District Jail Attock but also in other jails of Punjab. He said Khan has been provided with amenities such as a bed, pillows, mattress, table, chairs, air conditioner and exhaust fan as well as bath soap, perfume, air freshener, towels and tissue paper.

He said five doctors have been appointed for Khan, one of whom is available at all times and the PTI chief is given “special” food only after being examined by the doctors. The spokesman said that fruits, honey, dates, mats for prayers, Quran and books have also been given. Khan is reported to have complained that his wife and lawyers were not given easy access to him. However, the spokesperson said that the PTI chairman’s family meets him on Tuesday, while his lawyer meets him on Thursday.
