Voting will be held in the first phase on Palamu (SC) Lok Sabha seat on May 13. The process of nomination of candidates for this is going on. On the seventh day of nomination, two major candidates filed their nomination papers.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Jharkhand DGP VD Ram, who has been elected as MP twice, filed his nomination on Wednesday (April 24). Union Minister and former Army Chief General VK Singh participated in his nomination. Apart from these, State BJP President Babulal Marandi had also reached Palamu.
On the other hand, before filing nomination, VD Ram offered prayers at the Kali temple located at Chah Muhan in Daltenganj. Later he went to the returning officer’s office and filed his nomination. At this time General VK Singh and Babulal Marandi were present with him.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Mamta Bhuyan, who is contesting from Palamu Lok Sabha seat against VD Ram, also filed her nomination on Wednesday. He went to the returning officer’s office and filed his nomination.
Mamata Bhuyan’s supporters also argued with the magistrate in the Palamu District Returning Officer’s office. The number of supporters of RJD candidate Mamta Bhuyan, who was going to file nomination papers, was more than the prescribed number. When the officer stopped him from going inside, the District President got into an altercation with the officer.
Apart from the candidates of two major parties, some other candidates have also filed nomination for Palamu Lok Sabha seat. On Wednesday, Partnership Party P candidate Satendra Kumar Paswan also filed his nomination.
Mahendra Das also filed his nomination from Palamu Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate to challenge VD Ram and Mamta Bhuyan.
