‘Sir, I am still alive’ Brother-in-law died, but brother-in-law made death certificate, feat of MGM Hospital of Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Ashok Jha: Sir, I am still alive, yet my death certificate was made, whereas my brother-in-law died during treatment. Another such incident of MGM Hospital has come to light. The negligence of the hospital has once again exposed the activeness of MGM Hospital. Now Fuchu Hembram, declared dead on paper, is making rounds of MGM Hospital to prove himself alive.

what is the whole matter
Fuchu Hembram, a resident of Tamoliya in Seraikela Kharsawan district, had arrived with BJP leader Vimal Baitha on Thursday to appeal to MGM Hospital Superintendent Ravindra Kumar. Told the hospital superintendent that on March 30, he had admitted his brother-in-law Haldhar Majhi to MGM Hospital for treatment. Where his brother-in-law died during treatment on April 1. When he came to MGM Hospital to get his brother-in-law’s death certificate made, he came to know that he had been declared dead in the documents. He is making rounds of the hospital to improve his name. Affidavit is being sought from them. Then he informed the entire matter to BJP leader Vimal Baitha. On Thursday, Fuchu Hembram gave a letter to the hospital superintendent informing him that he was alive.

Fuchu Hembram says that it is MGM Hospital’s fault, but it is having to bear the brunt. Despite being alive, MGM Hospital of Jamshedpur made him dead. Along with this, one has to make rounds of the hospital to prepare the death certificate of the brother-in-law.

Action should be taken against the culprits: Vimal Baitha
BJP leader Vimal Baitha said that incidents of such big mistakes are happening again and again in the hospital. The entire matter should be investigated and action should be taken against the culprit.

Investigation is being done
Ravindra Kumar, Superintendent of MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur, said that how and under what circumstances this happened is being investigated. The process for name correction has been started. Name correction will be done in the death certificate.

Such incidents have happened in MGM before also.
July 11, 2018: In the emergency of MGM, a dead patient was given saline and oxygen for several hours. After giving information by the people, the patient’s saline and oxygen were removed and the body was sent to the cold storage.
30 April 2023: A patient named Lalit Dutta, resident of Adityapur, died due to serious injuries. The hospital sent Lalit’s body to the mortuary, declaring it to be that of Dhananjay. The family members went to the mortuary and saw the body. Then it came to light that Lalit Dutta’s body was kept, but the name Dhananjay was mentioned in the register.
20 December 2023: Ganesh Tantubai (53), father of Sandeep Tantubai, resident of Dimna Basti, died in a road accident on 17 November. Instead of Ganesh, the death certificate was issued in the name of his son Sandeep. While Sandeep was alive.
