Shubhkaran Singh Death: The farmer movement may have got a pause of two days but just a day before that i.e. on Wednesday 21st February, a young farmer leader died. After this incident, anger was seen among the farmers. Punjab Chief Minister on the death of 21 year old farmer Shubhakaran Singh Bhagwant Maan Had expressed condolence earlier and today in the morning he posted a post saying that Rs 1 crore will be given to the farmer’s family as compensation.

Along with this, he also informed in the post written in Punjabi that the Punjab government will also give a job to his sister. Bathinda resident Shubhakaran Singh (21) was killed in the clash that took place in Khanauri on the Punjab-Haryana border on Wednesday. Besides, 12 policemen were also injured in this incident. The incident took place when some of the protesting farmers tried to move towards the barriers. Shubhakaran Singh had died in the violence that took place there.

Shubhkaran Singh Death: Demand to be given ‘martyr’ status

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said in a post in Punjabi language, ‘The family of Shubhakaran Singh, who was martyred during the farmers’ protest at Khanauri border, will be given financial assistance of Rs 1 crore by the Punjab government and his younger sister will be given a government job. Appropriate legal action will be taken against the culprits. It is noteworthy that the farmer leaders had also demanded that Shubhakaran Singh be given the status of ‘martyr’.

Shubhakaran Singh was a resident of Ballo village of Bathinda. The body of Shubhakaran Singh was kept in Rajendra Hospital in Patiala but the postmortem was delayed due to the farmers being adamant on their demands. The Chief Minister had said on Wednesday that he was saddened by the death of the young farmer and also said that strict action would be taken against the culprits. Bhagwant Mann had said, ‘A case will be registered after postmortem. The officials responsible for his death will have to face strict action.
