Sharmila Tagore was heartbroken after hearing about Amrita-Saif’s marriage.
Sharmila revealed that when she came to Mumbai after dating Saif, she met Amrita over tea. While Sharmila was surprised by this development, she liked Amrita. The veteran actress said, I was going to Mumbai for some work, so, Saif came to meet me and said, I have something to tell you and then he told me. I don’t know what I was doing, but I was calm. He said, Amma, your complexion is changing, you look different and I said, okay, we will talk about it later. After he left, I went to Tiger (Saif Ali Khan’s father) and told him. There was a long silence on that part too and we left it there. The next day, I called him and said, I would like to meet Amrita and we had tea and talked. Sharmila said, “I liked her, but still I am surprised.” Saif married Amrita Singh in October 1991 and they have two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. However, they separated in 2004.
