Shardiya Navratri 2023: Covering permanent Durga temples is against scriptures

Shardiya Navratri 2023: During Navratri, a misconception is spreading in many places including Patna that even the permanent Durga temples are covered for six days. According to Pt. Bhavnath Jha, this is against the scriptures. There are three types of worship during Navratri.

  • The clay idol is installed by setting up a pandal and the idol is immersed.

  • In Devi temples where the idol is permanently installed for many years and worship is done there throughout the year.

  • Install Kalash by keeping photos in your homes.

There is a difference in the rituals in these three types of worship. Especially there is a lot of difference between the worship of a permanent temple and the worship of a pandal. In the pandal puja, the idol of the goddess should not be seen from the day the Kalash is installed till Shashti Tithi and a curtain should be placed from there onwards.
