According to a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the Prime Minister will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award at 11.45 am. The award was instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983 to honor the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. According to the statement, this award is given to those people who have worked for the progress and development of the nation and whose contribution can be seen as remarkable and extraordinary work. This award is given every year on August 1, the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak. The organizers had earlier told that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has been invited as the chief guest at the event. Rohit Tilak, vice-chairman of the trust, confirmed on Monday that Pawar would attend the award ceremony.
