Similarly, 14 thousand white and blood sandalwood plants are being distributed by the Bolpur Forest Department during ‘Van Mahotsav’ or ‘Forest Week’. But, in the last one or two decades due to natural calamities, construction of flats, resorts, hotels, multi-storey buildings, Shantiniketan has turned into a concrete jungle. Naturally the number of sandalwood trees along with other trees also decreased Is. Besides this, many valuable sandalwood trees have been stolen during the invasion and robbery of sandalwood thieves smugglers.

More than 14 thousand sandalwood plants are being planted in Shantiniketan.

It will continue till tomorrow. We have also prepared saplings of valuable white and blood sandalwood trees. We are also distributing them. We have been given a target to distribute these saplings. Shantiniketan will be refurnished with sandalwood plants.
