It was told that the distance from Jamalpur to Munger station is about seven kilometers. But in the course of doubling, doubling work of 14 km railway section from Jamalpur will be done. The distance from Jamalpur station to Sabdalpur station is about 15 kilometers. From Sabdalpur station itself, the railway line bifurcates till Tilrath station and Khagaria station via Begusarai. In such a situation, doubling work has to be done from Jamalpur to Sabdalpur station. Because only 14 km railway section from Jamalpur has to be double lined. In such a situation, by doubling Jamalpur to Sabdalpur station, further travel from Jamalpur via Khagaria will be possible. The railway route will also extend from Jamalpur via Sabdalpur to Begusarai. In the information received from Malda, Divisional Headquarters of Railways, it has been told that after doubling of the railway line, separate work will be done for the electrification of this route.

During the doubling work of 14 km railway line from Jamalpur, a second railway bridge will also be constructed on river Ganga in Munger. In the information received from the Public Relations Department of Malda Railway Division, it was told that the construction of a second railway bridge on the Ganga river has also been included in the DPR prepared for the doubling work. However, information has not been given whether the second rail bridge will be cum road bridge or only rail bridge. At present, both road and rail facilities are available on Munger Rail Bridge. Whereas there is pressure of vehicles on Munger Railway Bridge. In such a situation, if the second rail bridge can also be constructed as a rail cum road bridge.

The construction of this present bridge cost approximately Rs 9,300 crore. After 14 years of construction work due to various technical reasons, rail traffic started on 11 March 2016. Whereas the road route was also formally opened on 11 February 2022. Shri Krishna Setu of Munger in Bihar state is considered to be the 18th bridge, which connects National Highways 80 and 33.

Rupa Mandal, PRO of Divisional Railway Headquarters, Malda, said that a DPR worth Rs 1600 crore has been prepared for the doubling of 14 km railway route from Jamalpur to Munger railway section. Under this, a second railway bridge is also to be constructed on river Ganga in Munger. He told that the work will be started soon after getting approval from the Railway Board.
