Schools and colleges in Delhi will remain closed from tomorrow for the G20 Summit, know when the schools will open.

G20 Summit: Since India is going to host the G20 summit in the national capital, schools and colleges in Delhi will remain closed from tomorrow. Students will now have to go to school from Monday, 11 September 2023. The Delhi government has taken this step to save the visiting foreign delegates from unnecessary traffic inconvenience. Along with schools and colleges, banks, financial institutions, offices and commercial organizations will remain closed.

Instructions to Education Department

The education department of the Delhi government has already asked schools to declare September 8 as a holiday for both students and staff. The personnel of the education department have also been instructed by the Delhi government to stay in the city for these four days if more staff are required for the G20 meeting.

At least 20 world leaders are expected to participate in the two-day summit starting on Saturday. On September 9 and 10, the G20 summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam, the recently built international convention and exhibition center at Pragati Maidan.

Preparations for G20 summit completed

The Delhi government announced that all preparations for the G20 summit have been completed and the national capital is ready to welcome global visitors. Leaders of the world’s top 20 economies are expected to visit India. US Vice President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and other world leaders and representatives are on the list.

Strong security arrangements on the roads

There is likely to be high security at places like Dilli Haat, Chandni Chowk, Khan Market, Connaught Place and Malcha Marg Market. The MCD statement said 26 routes need special attention, including Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Sachivalaya Road, Purana Qila Road, Lodhi Road, Maulana Mohammad Ali Johar Marg and Suraj Kund Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Janmashtami holidays in Haryana

Meanwhile, today students in Haryana are celebrating holidays due to Janmashtami festival. The education department in a notification on 6 September announced a gazetted holiday for all educational establishments in the state.
