‘Generation Z’ refers to people born after 1990 and the early 2010s. ‘Khagam’ was first published in the Bengali magazine ‘Sandesh’ in 1972 and its Bengali graphic novel was published in January this year. The English version of this story has recently been published using the pure Indian style of narration with different colours.
Novel may come in market before Durga Puja
Chatterjee said, ‘We have the rights to publish Bengali and English graphic novels of 10 short stories by Satyajit Ray. Our next project is ‘Mr. Sasmal-Ar Shesh Ratri’ (The Last Night of Mr. Sasmal). We plan to bring it before Durga Puja this year. After this ‘Lucknow-ar-dual’ will come.
It was extremely difficult to convert ‘Khagam’ into an English graphic novel
Chandrayi Chatterjee, who translated the story for the English version, said, ‘This is one of my favorite short stories of Satyajit Ray. Converting ‘Khagam’ into an English graphic novel was a very difficult task. But since its Bangla version has already come, it was a little less difficult for me. He said the most difficult task was the translation of the four-line poem, which is an integral part of the story.
