Sanjay Nirupam: ‘Congress has become history, it has no future’

Sanjay Nirupam: A day after being expelled from Congress, former MP Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday claimed that there is tremendous arrogance in the party leadership and said that Congress has now become history and it has no future. Nirupam also said that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is a merger of three ‘sick entities’.

5 power centers in Congress

Sanjay Nirupam said that there are five ‘power centres’ in Congress. Three members of the Gandhi family, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and KC Venugopal (party general secretary). He claimed that Nehruvian secularism has ended, in which religion had no place in the society. The opposition MVA includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Chandra Pawar (NCP-SP).

Tremendous arrogance in Congress leadership

Nirupam said that criticizing Congress for giving more seats to Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 cannot be termed as anti-party activities. The former MP from North Mumbai alleged that action has been taken against him on the guidelines of Shiv Sena-UBT. He claimed that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is surrounded by people who have no hold on the grassroots level. Nirupam alleged that the party leadership has become weak and outdated. He claimed that Congress is rusty but the party leadership is full of arrogance. Sanjay Nirupam also targeted Maharashtra unit president of Congress Nana Patole and Venugopal. He said, India is a religious country but Congress termed the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Lord Ram (Ram Lala’s idol in the temple) in Ayodhya as a program of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress also denied the existence of Lord Ram.

You will feel your ground slipping after June 4th

The former chief of Mumbai unit of Congress also claimed that ideological confusion is prevalent within the party. Nirupam said that what he said in public was not against Congress but he was asking the party not to surrender to Shiv Sena-UBT. He said, secularism does not mean disregarding one’s religion. The former MP said that if the party takes action against its own leaders at the behest of others, then who will be left in the party? He claimed, Congress has now become history and it has no future. Nirupam also said that those who want to write their political obituaries will feel their ground slipping after June 4.

Why did Congress take action against Sanjay Nirupam?

It is noteworthy that taking cognizance of indiscipline and anti-party statements, Kharge had late on Wednesday night approved the expulsion of Nirupam with immediate effect. He has been expelled from the party for six years. Nirupam refused to comment on his political future but said that he would contest the Lok Sabha elections and win. He did not comment on the question regarding his contesting the elections as an independent candidate.
