Safety is paramount

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that the future of India’s relations with China depends on what will be China’s attitude towards the gathering of troops on the border. He has also said that China has violated written agreements, which resulted in the violent incident of Galwan in 2020. Since that time, China has deployed a large number of troops and sophisticated weapons on the Line of Actual Control, which is an example of its aggression. Several rounds of talks have taken place between the military officials of the two countries, but China is not ready to withdraw its troops. This naturally raises doubts about his real intentions. In view of China’s actions and to deal with any situation, India has also deployed troops and increased the patrolling of troops. Foreign Minister Jaishankar has clearly said that border security is the main duty of the government and no compromise can be made on this issue. Be it land border or maritime area, India is alert about security challenges. Some time ago, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan had also underlined that China is our main defense challenge. Along with the alertness along the Line of Actual Control, the Indian Navy has made unprecedented deployment in the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea and Red Sea.

It is noteworthy that at any time there are many Chinese ships patrolling the Indian Ocean, including some spy ships. India has always said that mutual tensions can be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. Under this thinking, our military officers are continuously talking to Chinese officials. Foreign ministers also keep meeting each other. But there has been no positive signal from China, neither at the military level nor at the political level, in the last four years. Instead of improving relations, China is trying to worsen them. That is why sometimes he makes meaningless comments about Kashmir and Ladakh and sometimes gives objectionable statements about Arunachal Pradesh. Not only this, he also tries to provoke Pakistan from time to time. China is also posing a threat to balance and stability in South Asia. It also wants to disrupt India’s growing activism in Central Asia. China should understand that India will not come under its pressure and its attitude can also put regional peace in danger. This is not even in China’s interest.
