RSS March in Tamil Nadu: After the Tamil Nadu government’s appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court, the RSS took out route marches at 45 places in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. The apex court had given permission to the RSS to take out the march two days in advance. After this, on April 16, permission was given by the police to take out the march.

Government did not give permission

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had sought permission to take out the march on October 2 last year, but the DMK government in Tamil Nadu raised concerns of law and order amid the ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) and several of its allied groups by the Union Home Ministry. Citing was not allowed. At the same time, the apex court had dismissed three petitions of the state on 11 April. Along with this, the court in its order gave its consent to the RSS to take out marches in many areas of the state with certain conditions. After the hearing on March 27, the apex court had reserved its verdict on the orders of the Madras High Court.
