RLD demanded declaration of sugarcane price, went to CM residence, police stopped

Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) demonstrated demanding declaration of sugarcane price. RLD leaders and workers proceeded on foot towards the Chief Minister’s residence shouting slogans like “Chaudhary Charan Singh long live”, “Declare the price of sugarcane”, but they were stopped by the police by placing barricades. During this period there was a scuffle between the workers and the police. Rolad workers wanted to go to the Chief Minister’s residence and the police were stopping them. After a long struggle, the RLD leaders submitted the memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the Additional Commissioner of Police.

RLD national spokesperson Anil Dubey said that in the current session, crushing has started in sugarcane mills, but the government has not yet announced the price of sugarcane. Inflation is at its peak, yet there has been no increase in the price of sugarcane. The farmer is the only producer who does not even have the right to decide the price of his produce. He gives the crop earned through his blood and sweat to the mill owners but he does not know what price he will get for his crop. According to the law, there is a provision for payment within 14 days. If this is not done, there is a mandatory requirement of paying interest, which is not being followed. Forgetting about interest, even the remunerative price of the crop is not being paid. He said that on the instructions of National President Jayant Chaudhary, the voice of farmers is being continuously raised.

This is the demand of RLD

  • The remunerative price of sugarcane should be declared at Rs 450 per quintal.

  • All outstanding sugarcane price should be paid along with interest

  • Support price of potato should be declared

  • The ban imposed by the Central Government on ethanol should be lifted

  • Due to not being recruited for last five years, many youth have crossed this age and they should be given age relaxation in police recruitment.
