Reserved category caste certificate case: Supreme Court stays High Court proceedings

The Supreme Court has heard the matter related to the issue of ‘fake’ certificates of reserved category and their use for admission in medical colleges of West Bengal. Calcutta High Court (Calcutta High Court, All the proceedings were stopped on Saturday. A five-judge bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Aniruddha Bose took suo motu cognizance of the case and conducted a special hearing and issued notice to the West Bengal government and the original petitioner. The bench also stayed the orders passed by the single judge bench and the division bench in this case. In this case, differences between two judges of Calcutta High Court have become public. The bench said, ‘We will stay further proceedings.
