Jio’s mobile network not only provided continuous help to the rescue team, it was possible to contact the labor brothers trapped in the tunnel and convey their condition to the country and abroad.
To help in the rescue of 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Jio established mobile network near the tunnel and played a big role in the rescue work.
Connectivity was a major need in this difficult time of rescue operation. When the administration and government put forth the need to provide mobile connectivity to Jio, Jio, fulfilling its social responsibility, for the first time provided a lease line of 100mbps for mobile connectivity and data at such a fast pace.

Reliance Jio started call and internet services inside the damaged tunnel in Silkyara within 12 hours. This helped in the rescue work of 41 workers trapped in it. Mobile service is weak in this remote area of Uttarakhand and the administration, which is working day and night to rescue the workers trapped in the under-construction tunnel that was damaged about two weeks ago, had asked the telecom service provider company to provide the network.

The company said that no vehicle can go to the hilly place. There are no poles and electricity and also no fiber connectivity. According to him, all these challenges have been overcome and necessary connectivity has been restored.
It is known that the workers engaged in construction work were trapped inside the under-construction Silkyara-Barkot tunnel after a part of it caved in following a landslide on November 12. After 17 days of hard work, the workers could be safely evacuated from the tunnel under construction on Tuesday, 28 November.
