Patna. After Corona, the number of Biharis going abroad for employment has increased again. More than three lakh 34 thousand people from across the country have gone abroad to cure the disease. Of these, there are about 56 thousand Biharis from Bihar alone, who have gone abroad for employment. The number of people going abroad for employment has also increased from Bihar. Compared to the last five years, a record number of Biharis moved abroad in the year 2023. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, more than 53 thousand people have gone abroad in the year 2023. However, compared to neighboring states Uttar Pradesh and Bengal, the number of people going abroad from Bihar is still very less.
55 thousand 893 people went abroad from Bihar till 27th November
In 2019, three lakh 68 thousand 48 people went abroad from the country. Of these, 55 thousand 423 were from Bihar. During the Corona period in 2020, 94 thousand 145 people from the country went abroad. These included 13 thousand 911 people from Bihar. In 2021, one lakh 32 thousand 673 people went abroad from the country, including 24 thousand 526 people from Bihar. At the same time, the number of people going abroad increased in 2022. Three lakh 29 thousand 699 people went abroad from the country, out of which 53 thousand 781 were from Bihar. Till November 27 this year, 3 lakh 34 thousand 273 people have gone abroad from the country, out of which 55 thousand 893 are from Bihar.
Most people going from UP
More people are going abroad from UP, the state adjacent to Bihar. This year, 1 lakh 20 thousand 179 people from UP went abroad for employment, while 3629 people from Jharkhand, 1141 from Madhya Pradesh and 26 thousand 353 people from West Bengal went abroad. Before Corona, in 2019, 1 lakh 16 thousand 251 people from UP, 3348 from Jharkhand, 1145 from MP and 28 thousand 982 people from West Bengal had gone abroad.

Most Biharis are going to Gulf countries
According to the report, most Biharis are going abroad to Gulf countries. However, 18 countries are most favorite among Biharis. Prominent among them are United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Malaysia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, South Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Yemen and Sudan. In other countries, people are going out in sporadic numbers.
Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj still top
Like before, even now more people of Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj are going abroad. If we look at the report of the year 2022, only 6993 people went abroad from Patna. Maximum 8751 people went abroad from Gopalganj. From Siwan 8310, Saran 2272, East Champaran 3657, Madhubani 4389, Darbhanga 2424, Muzaffarpur 1917, Kishanganj 2232, Sitamarhi 2112 and from West Champaran 4262 people went abroad. Whereas 2846 people from Purnia, 1318 from Supaul and 1586 from Araria went abroad.
Orientation of less educated people
Less educated people from Bihar are being given training before going abroad. For this, 36 officers have been made master trainers. They are being given training related to living abroad in Patna, Gaya, Purnia, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga. Before going abroad, immigration is given by the Ministry of External Affairs. Scrutiny of medical certificates and other documents of those seeking employment abroad from Bihar is being done through the Protectors of Emigrant Office, the office of the Ministry of External Affairs located in Patna. Earlier, due to lack of office in Patna, people of Bihar had to go to Kolkata or Rae Bareli. Its office is in Niyojan Bhawan. However, 1.46 acres of land has been identified in Gardanibagh for building Videsh Bhawan in Patna.
