Arrested in ration scam in West Bengal Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik (Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik, Was sent to Presidency Jail following the instructions of the court. Bankshall Court ordered that Jyotipriya Mallik will have to eat jail food and not home food. According to court sources, Bankshall Court had sought a report from the jail management regarding the diet chart of the minister. The court wanted to know whether the minister had food facilities and infrastructure in the jail as per the advice of doctors or not. According to sources, in the report the jail authorities have said that the minister is being given food in the jail only as per the advice of the doctors. Let us tell you that some health related problems of the former Food Minister were brought to the notice of the court by his lawyer. Only after this the court sought a report from the jail management. Presidency Jail officials told the court that the infrastructure was in place to provide food as per the diet chart of doctors.
Jyotipriya could not sleep properly on the first night in jail
According to sources, the minister has been kept in ‘Poila Bais’, the highest security cell of the jail. These days, most of the heavyweight leaders and ministers arrested in fraud cases are living in this cell. According to sources, Jyotipriya was given a blanket and a sheet in the jail. He is sleeping with a blanket spread on the ground. The court has not directed to provide any additional facility. The accused minister did not sleep properly the first night in jail, because he is not in the habit of sleeping on the floor. At present, no other prisoner has been kept in the cell where he is. There are no facilities like TV, cots, newspapers there. Newspaper comes daily in Poila twenty-second cell. There the pages of the newspaper are separated. The prisoners take turns reading one page at a time. Now the Forest Minister will also get to read the newspaper in the same way.
