Rath Yatra 2023: Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra appeared in the form of fish-turtle in Gundicha temple, what is its belief

Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra have been given an attractive form in the form of a turtle. Along with that gorgeous makeup has gone. Only in Seraikela in Jharkhand, during the Rath Yatra, the Lord gives darshan to the devotees in different forms. Artists Partha Sarathi Dash, Ujjwal Singh, Sumit Mohapatra, Subham Kar, Manu Satpathi, Vicky Satpathi, Mukesh Sahu etc. have dressed up the turtle form of Lord Jagannath-Balbhadra under the direction of Guru Sushant Kumar Mohapatra. Despite the rain since morning, a large number of devotees are reaching the temple since Tuesday morning to see Lord Jagannath in the form of a turtle. The Gundicha temple is expected to be more crowded in the evening.

During Seraikela, people from outside also reach Gundicha Temple (Mausi Bari) to see the costumes of Lord Jagannath. It is said that the costume tradition in Seraikela Rath Yatra started in the 70s. The Lord was decorated by artists like Guru Prashann Kumar Mohapatra, Doman Jena, Sushant Mohapatra. Presently, under the direction of Guru Sushant Kumar Mahapatra, local artists perform the costume tradition in Seraikela Rath Yatra.
