RapidX Inauguration: PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s first rapid rail in Ghaziabad on October 20.

Ghaziabad: PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor at Sahibabad RapidX station in UP on October 20 (Friday). On this occasion, he will also flag off the RapidX train connecting Sahibabad to Duhai depot marking the launch of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India. The Prime Minister will address a meeting in Sahibabad at around 12 noon. Apart from this, he will also dedicate two parts of the East-West corridor of Bengaluru Metro to the nation.

The 17 km long priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor that PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate will connect Sahibabad with ‘Duhai Depot’ along with Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai stations. The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor on 8 March 2019.

It is noteworthy that Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is a new rail-based semi-high speed, high frequency commuter transit system. It runs at a speed of 180 km per hour. The country’s first rapid rail will run from Sahibabad to Duhai in Ghaziabad. This is the first section of the Delhi-Meerut Corridor. Its length is 17 kilometers. There are Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations on this route. Rapid rail has been tested. Its speed will be 160 kilometers per hour.

Daughters will operate Rapid Train

Daughters will run the country’s first rapid train. Apart from this, the responsibility of station control is also in the hands of daughters. All of them are residents of Ghaziabad. Station controller Anju is a resident of Ghaziabad. He is posted as Sahibabad Station Controller.

Delhi to Meerut in one hour

A total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified to be built in the National Capital Region (NCR). Of these, three corridors have been given priority for implementation in the first phase. Which includes Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor and Delhi-Panipat Corridor. Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is being prepared at a cost of more than Rs 30 thousand crore. It will connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour, passing through the urban centers of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Modinagar.

There will be reduction in congestion and air pollution

RRTS developed in the country is a state-of-the-art regional mobility solution. It can be compared with the world’s best RRTS. This will provide safe, reliable and modern transportation facilities from one city to another in the country. In line with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, the RRTS network will have extensive multi-modal integration with railway stations, metro stations, bus services etc. This will provide access to economic activities, employment, education and health care opportunities in the area. It will also help in reducing vehicle congestion and air pollution.
