Rapid Rail: The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has approved the operation of ‘RapidX’ service on the priority section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. After this approval, the way has been cleared for the operation of the country’s first regional rail rapidx. Under the primary section, RapidX will run from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. Let me tell you, this project was started in the year 2019. Giving this information, the officials of National Capital Region Transport Corporation said that commercial operation of RapidX services can be started within four years.

Significantly, the 17 km long priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot. Officials said that earlier, the Ministry of Railways had approved the RRTS train set. It is designed for a top speed of 180 kmph and has an operational speed of 160 kmph. NCRTC’s semi-high speed regional rail service ‘RapidX’ is a joint venture company of the Center with the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

NCRTC officials say that in the last one year, the processes adopted by the NCRTC for the implementation of the transit infrastructure project have been thoroughly scrutinized by more than one safety evaluator. In this way, only after this it has got the permission of Ministry of Railways and CMRS. NCRTC aims to open the entire 82 km long section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut to the public by 2025.
