According to the information, Tusu fair was organized in Jonha Fall on 15 January 2024. A girl from Medha village had gone to see the fair with her friends. While returning after seeing the fair, Dhaniram Munda (father late Radharam Munda) of the village caught the girl and took her towards the forest. After that Dhaniram committed the rape incident. The girl informed her cousin about the incident over phone from the forest. After which her brother along with half a dozen people of the village reached the forest at night and brought both the girl and the accused of rape to the village. During this, the villagers beat up Dhaniram Munda and then imprisoned him in a house.

On January 16, a meeting of villagers was held under the chairmanship of village head Satyanarayan Munda. In the meeting, villagers angry over the incident beat up the accused. After this, poisonous Bhelwa oil was rubbed all over his body. Due to this Dhaniram got seriously injured. On January 24, Dhaniram’s family admitted him to a private clinic in Jonha for treatment. He died during treatment on January 25. After this, deceased’s brother Balram Munda informed about the incident. Ranchi Gave it to the police.
17 arrested, all confessed to the crime
As soon as the information was received, Angada police took action on the matter and arrested village head Satyanarayan Munda, girl’s father and cousin along with villagers Anil Munda, Surendra Munda, Shivnath Munda, Digambar Singh Munda, Charwah Munda, Maninath Singh Munda, Kalinder Munda, Jaleshwar Munda. , Nareshwar Munda, Pradeep Munda, Pitamber Munda, Kaleshwar Bedia, Mohar Singh Munda and Ranglal Singh Munda (total 17) were arrested. Angada police station in-charge Dileshwar Kumar said that the matter is being investigated. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem. Police said that the arrested villagers have confessed to their crime.
