Ranchi’s RIMS Hospital is busy searching for the disease whose cause could not be detected even by the doctors of Vellore.

Ranchi: The Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences of RIMS is examining 20 such patients of the state, whose doctors are not able to find out the cause of their disease. This also includes a four year old girl who went to CMC Vellore. The girl’s sample is also being examined through whole exome sequencing. The doctor of the pediatric department at CMC Vellore has referred the girl to RIMS saying that there is a facility for whole exome sequencing test. After this the girl is being examined. It is expected that the illness of all 20 patients including the girl will be known by Wednesday.

Dr. Anupa Prasad, Head of the Department of Genetics and Genomics, said that the test report of the whole exam will come on Wednesday. After this analysis will be done. In this it will be known which disease the patients including the girl child are suffering from. After diagnosing the disease, the doctor will start their treatment. At present, all these patients in the state are not being treated properly. A four-year-old girl is constantly suffering from infections, but doctors are not able to decide what disease she has and what medicine should be given. It is noteworthy that Health Secretary Arun Kumar Singh had given target to RIMS to start the investigation of whole exam sequencing in the state. After this the investigation could begin.

It will be a matter of pride for RIMS that the Department of Genetics and Genomics will detect the disease by doing whole genome sequencing. 20 patients are being examined, the results of which will come by Wednesday. With this, treatment of rare patients will be started on time.
