Barkakana’s project was approved in 1999

1. The approval of this project was received in the year 1999 during the tenure of the then Prime Minister Atal Vihari Vajpayee. Work started in the year 2009. In the first phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the rail operations from Koderma to Hazaribagh Town station on 20 February 2015. About 80 km operations started in the first phase.

2. The second phase started on December 7, 2016 from Hazaribagh Town to Barkakana. Former Union Minister Jayant Sinha started the Barkakana rail operation by boarding the train, which is about 57 km away.

3. In the third phase, the train reached Sidhwar station from Barkakana station on 31 March 2017. Its distance is about seven km.

4. In the fourth phase, operations started on August 28, 2019, from Tatisilwe to Sanki, which is about 32 km away.

5. In the fifth and last phase of the rail project, on December 19, 2022, about 26 km newly constructed rail line from Sidhwar to Sanki was inspected. On December 21, 2022, the Railway Safety Commissioner flagged off the rail operations with necessary instructions.
