Ranchi: Mandar woman breaks 15 feet high Dahi-Handi in 32 seconds, Govinda Team first, prize of Rs 51 thousand

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan inaugurated the Dahi-Handi Phod competition organized at Albert Ekka in Ranchi. Dahi-handi bursting competition was organized by Shri Krishna Janmashtami Committee, Ranchi. The program started with Ganesh Vandana. Governor CP Radhakrishnan duly inaugurated the program by breaking the decorated handi with coconut on the stage. The Governor said that no one can destroy Sanatan Dharma. Sudesh Mahato, Sanjay Seth, Aditya Sahu, Karmaveer Singh, CP Singh, Samri Lal, Ramkumar Pahan, Asha Lakda, Sanjeev Vijayvargiya, Ajay Maru and many dignitaries of the committee were present as special guests on this occasion. On this occasion, the Chief Guest Governor was welcomed. The team of Mandar Mahila Govinda secured the first position. The pot broke in 32 seconds. Mandar’s women’s Govinda team got first prize

Male Govinda’s teams took part in Dahi-Handi bursting competition. Women’s Govinda teams participated. The height of the handi for male Govinda was kept at 25 feet, while for female Govinda the height was kept at 15 feet. All the teams were given 5 minutes time by the organizing committee. Male and female Govinda along with their teams were in different colored T-shirts. Each team included 25 to 30 Govindas. Three teams participated in Mahila Govinda. The height of the handi was kept at 15 feet. In this, Mandar women’s team secured first place. The pot broke in 32 seconds. The Governor rewarded the team by giving Rs 51,000 cash and shield. Samlong Busu women’s team came second and broke the pot in 51 seconds. The Governor rewarded him with Rs 21,000 and a shield. Chadri Sarna Mahila Samiti got the third prize. The team broke the pot in 1 minute 13 seconds. A prize of Rs 5100 was given.

Devotees kept diving in the Ganges of devotional songs
