Ranchi: Voluntary blood donation camp organizers were honored by RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) on Friday. Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Singh honored the camp organizers by giving mementoes and citations for their excellent work. Many organizations were honored for organizing blood donation camps. Saluting the blood heroes present in the program, Mr. Singh said that there is always a need for blood. In such a situation, it is necessary to motivate people to donate blood. At the departmental level, it will be our endeavor that the blood donation campaign runs across the state. Seeing the need of blood in rural areas, Mr. Singh said that blood storage unit will be started soon in the Community Health Center. Let us tell you that annually about 30,500 to 32,000 units of blood are collected at RIMS Blood Donation Center and about 54,000 to 56,000 units of blood and its components are supplied, in which 4500 to 5000 units of blood are collected through Voluntary Blood Donation Camp.

There is a need to organize more blood donation camps

In-charge Director of RIMS, Prof. Dr. Rajeev Kumar Gupta said that the amount of blood that is required in the RIMS Blood Bank is not donated. Because of this, there is a lack of blood and people suffer. That’s why there is a need to organize more blood donation camps and bring awareness. Efforts are being made by RIMS management to improve the system. RIMS Dean Dr. Vidyapati, Medical Superintendent Dr. Hirendra Birua, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Shailesh Tripathi, JSCA Vice President Ajay Nath Shahdev, Congress leader Sanjay Pandey and others were present at the felicitation ceremony.

Organizers have a big contribution in organizing blood donation camps

About 30,500 to 32,000 units of blood are collected annually at RIMS Blood Donation Center and about 54,000 to 56,000 units of blood and its components are supplied, in which 4500 to 5000 units of blood are collected through Voluntary Blood Donation Camp. About 15 to 20 units of free blood are given from the blood center without replacement. In case of non-availability of a donor to serious patients on time, there is a possibility of an untoward incident. In such a situation, their lives are saved only by the blood collected by the voluntary blood donors. Organizers have a huge contribution in organizing voluntary blood donation camps.

7. Jharkhand STF Jaguar supported 273 units by donating blood.

8. 235 units were supported by Junior Doctors Association, RIMS.

9. 209 units were supported by Jharkhand Rai University.

10. 177 units were supported by Pranitha Institute of Sciences and Harmu Hospital.

11. 153 units were supported by Vinova Bhave University, Hazaribagh.

12. Shri Shani Dev Bhakt Mandali, Jamshedpur donated 139 units of blood.

13. 134 units were supported by VBDA.

14. 106 units were supported by Panchayat Bhavan Chandil.
