Rajya Sabha Elections: Surprising names possible from JDU, BJP-RJD and Congress, know who will be the candidate..

Rajasabha Election 2024: Nominations will start from February 8 for the biennial elections to be held on February 27 for 6 Rajya Sabha seats of Bihar. This time BJP will gain one seat. Whereas JDU will have to suffer the loss of one seat. Both seats of RJD will remain intact. At the same time, Congress will have to face opposition parties to save its one seat. As far as candidates are concerned, no party has revealed its cards yet.

Who will BJP make its candidate?

BJP veteran Sushil Modi may get an opportunity to go to Rajya Sabha again. Even after this, the party is searching for a new candidate for the second seat. Sources say that like last time, this time also BJP can bet on a new candidate.

Know who has the upper hand..

On the basis of numerical strength in the assembly, BJP is capable of getting its candidate victory on two seats, JDU on one and RJD on two seats. But, opposition parties will have to field a common candidate for the sixth seat of Rajya Sabha. No single party has enough votes for the sixth seat. In the assembly, 19 MLAs of Congress and 16 MLAs of Left parties including CPI(ML) may be in a position to help a common candidate win with the support of RJD. RJD, Congress, MLA and Left parties have to decide who will be this sixth candidate. Presently Congress state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh had reached Rajya Sabha with the support of RJD. His tenure is also ending.

There may be surprising names in JDU

The tenure of old socialist leader Vashishtha Narayan Singh in JDU is coming to an end. Last time, in 2022, the party had won a seat, in which it had made Khiru Mahato of Jharkhand its candidate. According to JDU sources, there could be a surprise candidate this time too. The tenure of two MPs of the party is ending.

RJD will be left with two seats, but doubts remain over the candidate.

Patna Rashtriya Janata Dal has two possible Rajya Sabha seats. It has not been decided whether the existing MPs on both the seats will get a chance to contest for the second time or the party will field a new candidate. One seat belongs to Ashfaq Karim, hence there is a possibility of fielding a minority candidate. Apart from Manoj Kumar Jha, the member present for the second seat, many names are floating in the air.
