Agra : Four army personnel, including two officers and a terrorist, have been killed after an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Baji Mal area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (November 22). Captain Shubham Gupta of Agra has also been martyred in this encounter between security forces and terrorists. He is the son of DGC (District Government Counsel) Crime Basant Kumar Gupta, resident of Tajnagari, Agra. As soon as people are getting the news of Captain Shubham Gupta making the supreme sacrifice for the country, they are reaching out to console the family of the martyr. Captain Shubham Gupta got commission in the army in 2018. Presently his posting was in Army’s Special Force 9 Para.
Encounter going on in Kalakot of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir
According to information received from the Army, security forces received input that 2 to 3 terrorists may be hiding in the forests of Baji village under Kalakote police station in Rajouri district of Jammu division. Based on this input, Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and SOG launched a massive search operation. Officials said, “During the search, the terrorists started firing on the security forces, after which an encounter started in that area. Local residents said that cordon and cordon was started in the area since Sunday to trace the terrorists operating in the area.” A search operation is being conducted. “Due to the operation, we were asked to stay at home and not go out. Our children stayed at home and did not go to school,” a villager told PTI. He told that firing is going on in the forest area near the village.
Foreign terrorists were roaming in the area since Sunday
Officials said the two terrorists trapped at the encounter site in Bajimal appear to be foreign nationals and were roaming in the area since Sunday. They said they also took shelter at a place of worship. The latest encounter in Rajouri comes on the heels of another encounter at Behrote in Budhal area on November 17, in which a terrorist was killed. Earlier on April 20 and May 5, 10 soldiers had lost their lives in ambush attacks in Mendhar area of Poonch and Kandi forest of Rajouri. According to officials, since January this year till now, 10 soldiers were killed in ambushes in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and nearby 46 deaths have been recorded in terrorism related incidents in Reasi district. While 23 people, including seven terrorists and nine security personnel, were killed in Rajouri, 15 terrorists and five security personnel were killed in Poonch district. Three terrorists were killed in Reasi district.
