There is a warning of snowfall. According to IMD, this is the first intense western disturbance of the season and its impact will be visible in north-west and central India till October 17. Western disturbances are weather systems originating in the Mediterranean region, which cause unseasonal rainfall in northwest India.

Heavy rain in Punjab also on Monday

According to IMD, due to the effect of western disturbance, there may be heavy rain in Punjab on Monday. Apart from this, thunderstorms and lightning are forecast in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan during the said period. The Meteorological Department said that under the influence of the Western Disturbance, a cyclonic circulation has developed over Central Pakistan and neighboring areas, which is expected to intensify further after meeting with a fresh Western Disturbance on October 15. According to the department, this weather system is likely to receive moisture from the Arabian Sea, which will increase the intensity and extent of rainfall over northwest India during the same period.

According to the IMD, after the passing of the Western Disturbance, dry north-westerly winds coming from the Himalayas are likely to prevail at the lower tropospheric level over northwest India, causing a drop of two to four degrees Celsius in the temperature in the region from October 17.
