Rajasthan vote counting: Ashok Gehlot ahead from Sardarpura seat, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore from Jhotwara.

Jaipur: Counting of votes continues for the assembly elections in Rajasthan. Counting of votes started at eight o’clock on Sunday morning. In the initial trends, Congress candidate and current Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is leading from Sardarpura seat of Jodhpur. At the same time, BJP candidate and former Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is also leading from Jhotwara assembly seat.

Sardarpura Gehlot’s traditional seat

Sardarpura seat of Jodhpur is the traditional seat of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. BJP has fielded Mahendra Singh Rathore from Sardarpura seat. Ashok Gehlot has been MP five times, MLA five times, Chief Minister thrice and State Congress President thrice. By giving ticket to Vasundhara Raje supporter Rathore, BJP has made the path easier for Gehlot.

What is the equation of votes?

If we look at Sardarpura area, it is an assembly constituency of Jodhpur. Due to presence of Mehrangarh and Mandore of Jodhpur in it, it is counted among the important areas from tourism point of view. Talking about the caste equation, people of Rajput and Jat, minority and OBC categories are seen playing a decisive role in Sardarpura area. The victory of the party which succeeds in wooing them becomes certain. There are also a large number of votes of Jat and Mali OBC category in this area. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also comes from Mali community which benefits him. Talking about vote percentage, in the last election i.e. 2018 election, 64 percent votes were cast in favor of Congress.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore came into politics in 2014

Whereas, if we talk about BJP candidate from Jhotwara Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who won the gold medal for India in the Olympics, is active in politics after hoisting the flag in the world of sports. Rajyavardhan Rathore, retired from the Indian Army, won a silver medal in double trap shooting at the 2004 Athens Olympics. After that there was a lot of discussion about Rathore. In a sports career spanning more than a decade, he won many medals in the Commonwealth and Asian Games. After retiring from shooting, Rathore joined BJP and has been serving the party continuously since 2014.

Rathore became MP for the first time in 2014

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore joined Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he became MP for the first time by winning from Jaipur Rural constituency. In the very first cabinet of PM Modi, he was made the Minister of Information and Broadcasting (Independent Charge). After that he was appointed Sports Minister on 3 September 2017. In May 2018, he became the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Information and Broadcasting.
