MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) chief Raj Thackeray has apologized while expressing written regret in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court for making objectionable statements against Hindi speaking people including North Indians and Biharis. After a written apology by Raj Thackeray, the court accepted the apology, after which the order was passed to end the case. In fact, the whole matter started in 2007 when Jamshedpur’s advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu lodged a complaint against the MNS chief at Sonari police station. While registering the complaint, it was alleged that on March 9, 2007, on the foundation day of MNS at Sion Shanmukhanand Auditorium in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray had made objectionable remarks on North Indians, Biharis and Hindi speaking people.

On March 13, advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu, a resident of Taraiya village of Chhapra, filed a complaint against Raj Thackeray for his objectionable remarks in the court of CJM, Jamshedpur, after Sonari police station did not take any action. The matter was transferred to the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate DC Awasthi for special hearing. Taking cognizance on the basis of evidence, the court issued summons. Non-bailable warrant and advertisement were issued when Raj Thackeray was not present. MNS chief Raj Thackeray filed several petitions in the Jharkhand High Court through his advocate, but on not getting relief, took refuge in the Delhi High Court on 30 September 2011. After a long battle, at the time of hearing on this pending petition, as per the instructions of Raj Thackeray, his advocate Anupam Lal Das, through the petitioner Raj Thackeray, said before the court that if his speech has hurt the people of any community, then the petitioner unconditionally Apologize and express regret and sorrow. After the hearing, on March 13, 2023, the court of Delhi High Court Judge Jasmeet Singh accepted Raj Thackeray’s apology.
