Rain breaks record of nine years in August, 153 mm of clouds in 48 hours, threat of flood in 300 villages

Bareilly: It has been raining heavily in Bareilly of Uttar Pradesh for the last 48 hours. Due to this the weather is pleasant, while the rain has broken all the previous records. According to the data of the Meteorological Department, there has not been so much rain in August in the last nine years. From Tuesday morning to Thursday morning, 153 mm of rain has been received.

The process of rain is expected to continue. It was very hot in Bareilly for the last several days. But, in the midst of sunshine on Tuesday morning, it started raining suddenly due to drizzle. Since then the monsoon has been kind. People have got a lot of relief from this. A drop in temperature was recorded on Thursday morning as well. Due to continuous rains, the feeling of cold has started in the night.

the heat made me restless

It was very hot in Bareilly for the last several days. Meanwhile, the power cut had made people restless. People were troubled by the humidity along with the heat. However, people got relief after it suddenly rained in the midst of sunshine. Due to rain on Thursday after Wednesday, the weather has remained pleasant.

Power supply affected in many areas

Due to the rain, trees have fallen on the power lines at many places. This affected the power supply. The old city, Jagatpur, Madinath, Badaun Road and many villages of the city did not get supply overnight. Electricity consumers are very upset due to this.

Waterlogging on city colonies and roads

From the colonies of the city to the streets, there has been water logging. Many roads of the city have turned into ponds. People are worried due to water logging in Jagatpur, Badaun Road, Subhash Nagar, Rampur Garden, Biharipur, Madinath, Malukpur old city etc. of the city. Along with this, people are unable to move due to mud on many roads.

The weather is expected to be pleasant on August 25 as well

The weather pattern has changed after the rain in Bareilly. After the rain, people have got relief from the heat. Now the weather is expected to remain pleasant till 25th August. On August 25, the temperature is expected to be recorded at 24 degree Celsius.

The wall of kutcha houses and trees fell

Due to the rain in Bareilly, the raw walls of houses and trees have started falling. A wall collapsed in the ADM compound. Along with this, many cars have been damaged due to falling of a tree in Cantt. Many houses have also collapsed in the countryside, but no one has been reported injured.

Increased water level of rivers, threat looms over villages

It has been raining continuously in Bareilly for the last 48 hours, while water has been released from the Kalagarh Dam in Uttarakhand. Because of this, the water level of Ramganga, Bahgul etc. rivers passing through Bareilly has increased. Due to the increase in the water level of the rivers, many villages have started coming in the grip of water. The primary school, Gurudara and all the houses of Teerthnagar village of Mirganj have been submerged in the Ramganga river. Due to the rising water level of Ramganga, the very existence of the village is in danger. People here have started saving houses to save lives. Most of the houses in the village have merged into the Ramganga, while some more houses are preparing to go into the river.

Flood threat in 300 villages of Bareilly

Due to heavy rains in Bareilly, the danger of flood has started looming. The possibility of flood has started due to increase in water in Ramganga river. In the last two years, people of 330 villages who were affected by partial flood, are preparing to give suggestions for rescue in case of rising water.

Increased water level of these rivers

After incessant rains in Bareilly and release of water from the dam in Uttarakhand, the water level in other small rivers including Ramganga, Kichha, West Behgul, Bhakra, Behgul and Deoha has increased. Due to this the erosion of agricultural land has started. The Ramganga river and other rivers originating from the Kalagarh dam have engulfed many villages.

Administration alerted flood outposts

Monitoring has been started after the water level of the rivers of Bareilly increased. Administration officials have alerted 50 flood outposts built from the beginning to the end of the district border. These flood outposts have been increased as compared to last year, this time there have been 42 to 50 flood outposts. 28 shelters have been proposed in case of displacement from villages in flood. There will be arrangements for food, stay, medicine etc. for the displaced.

Flood threat in many districts

According to the Superintending Engineer of Ramganga Dam, due to heavy rains in Kumaon and Garhwal, the water level of Ramganga Dam has increased. The storage capacity here is 355 metres, while the water here is being released slowly due to the water level being 355.530 metres. Earlier, water was released from here in 2013 and 2021 as well. Due to the release of water from the dam, an alert has been issued to Bareilly, Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Bijnor, Farrukhabad etc. districts of UP.
