Mythological stories related to Radhashtami

According to a legend, one day Vrishabhanu Gop found a little girl lying among lotus flowers in a pond. He brought that girl to his home. He considered this girl as his daughter and brought him up. Radha ji had not opened her eyes for many days. It is believed that Radha ji wanted to see Krishna ji first after birth, hence despite the efforts of others, she did not open her eyes until she met Shri Krishna in her childhood. Just as Lord Vishnu had incarnated as Krishna in Dwapara Yuga, similarly Mother Lakshmi had taken birth as Radha Rani. The day Radha ji met Vrishabhanu ji was Ashtami Tithi. Therefore this day started being celebrated as Radha Ashtami.
