Punishment for the accused who injured police personnel while drunk

Today, the court has sentenced two accused Pawan Yadav and Rana Yadav guilty on April 2 in the case of injuring policemen by pushing them during vehicle checking in Bhagalpur while intoxicated and disobeying the liquor law. Under Section 45 of Bihar Prohibition Products Act 2016, on 30-03-2024, Naugachhia Police Station Case No. 338/22 Special Product Case, while completing the hearing of the said case, found the accused Pawan Yadav and Rana Yadav guilty. Both the accused were heard on the point of punishment on Tuesday. In which both the accused will have to face imprisonment of 8 years and a fine of ₹ 100,000, and in case of non-payment of the fine amount, they will have to face additional punishment of 3 months.

It may be noted that on November 04, 2022, the police was conducting an anti-liquor raid in the Rangra police station area, during which Navgachia police station incharge informed that the accused Pawan Yadav and Rana Yadav, wanted in several other cases of Navgachia, along with their associates were going from Katihar in a Scorpio. Coming towards Navgachia. To verify the above information, Rangra OP Police started checking vehicles intensively near Rangra Chowk. During vehicle checking, around 12:30 in the night, a white colored Scorpio was coming towards the check post and was signaled to stop. Then the names and addresses of the people sitting in it were asked. Meanwhile, the person sitting in the Scorpio pushed the gate of the vehicle and while closing the gate, the driver was asked to run away with the vehicle. Inspector Rajesh Ranjan Kumar and Chandan Kumar got injured due to the push. Thereafter, with the help of the patrolling team of Navgachia police station, the accused were surrounded and arrested near NH 31 by the police raiding team. When asked about his name and address etc., he told his name as Pawan Yadav and Rana Yadav.
