Production of BMW’s first electric scooter CE 02 begins in Hosur

New Delhi : TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad are celebrating their 10 year long partnership. On this milestone, the production of BMW CE 02 has started at TVS Motor’s Hosur manufacturing plant. Additionally, TVS also produced the 1,50,000th unit of BMW Motorrad’s 310 cc series of motorcycles.

TVS and BMW have launched these motorcycles

TVS Motor and BMW Motorrad have jointly developed and launched five iconic motorcycles. These include the BMW G310 R, BMW 310 GS and BMW G310 RR as well as TVS Motor Company’s flagship motorcycles and the TVS Apache RR 310 as well as the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 310. The Apache RTR 310 received a lot of appreciation and the manufacturer has started production of the motorcycle. The company will soon start its delivery and test ride. The price of Apache RTR 310 motorcycle starts from Rs 2.43 lakh to Rs 2.64 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom.

BMW’s first electric scooter is CE 02

After this, CE 02 is BMW’s first electric scooter. At present, it is not known whether it will go on sale in the Indian market or not. The electric motor uses a belt drive for power transmission and the motor itself generates a maximum power of 54.91 Nm at 1,000 rpm. BMW is using 48 V electric system.

BMW CE 02 : Riding Modes

The BMW CE 02 electric scooter has two riding modes: Surf and Flow. Apart from this, it also has reverse gear. It features an LED headlamp, ABS on the front wheel, a USB-C charging socket, a keyless ride and a 3.5-inch TFT display.

BMW CE 02: Range

According to the company, CE 02 has a 2 kWh battery pack which gives a range of 45 kilometers and a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. Whereas if you buy its dual battery variant then this range increases to 90 kilometers. Single battery scooter has been launched in European countries focusing on teenagers. In European countries, driving license is not required up to a top speed of 45 kilometers per hour. However, in India this speed limit is 25 kilometers per hour.

BMW CE 02 : Battery

Along with the range of the dual battery pack variant of the scooter, the top speed has also been doubled. Its top speed is up to 95 kilometers per hour. Whereas its single battery variant takes 3 hours to charge and the dual battery variant takes approximately 5.12 hours to get fully charged. Along with its dual battery variant, the company is also offering 1.5 KW fast charger. This reduces the charging time significantly and it can be fully charged in 3.30 hours.

Production starts in Hosur plant

Speaking at the start of production of the BMW CE 02 electric scooter at the Hosur plant, Marks Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, said, “Together with TVS Motors, we have achieved excellent results and we are excited about the future.
