Lucknow. In Uttar Pradesh, procurement of paddy, maize, millet and jowar at MSP is going to start from October 1. This year the government will purchase 70 lakh metric tons of paddy from 4000 purchasing centers. This year 4440 purchasing centers have been opened which is more than last year. Food Commissioner Saurabh Babu said that sufficient quantity of sacks have been made available for the purchase of paddy and coarse grains. Support price (MSP) of paddy will be purchased at the fixed rate of grade ‘A’ paddy at Rs 2203 per quintal and common paddy at Rs 2183 per quintal. The minimum support price of maize was fixed at Rs 2090 per quintal and that of millet at Rs 2500 per quintal. The procurement of maize, millet and jowar will take place from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.

Procurement will start in the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh from 01 November

Under the Price Support Scheme in the Kharif Marketing Year 2023-24, the State Government will support the price of paddy in the districts of Western Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand from tomorrow (Sunday) and from November 01, 2023 in the districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, for grade ‘A’ paddy at Rs 2203 per quintal. And it is starting the purchase of common paddy at the fixed rate of Rs 2183 per quintal. This year, it is proposed to set a target of purchasing 70 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the state and 4000 purchasing centers will be operated, in which 1350 purchasing centers of the Food Department, PCF 1600 purchasing centers of PCU, 550 of PCU, 200 of UPSS, 100 of Mandi Parishad and 200 of Food Corporation of India are to be operated. More paddy purchasing centers have been opened this year as compared to last year. In the procurement year 2022-23, 4431 centers were opened, whereas in this year 2023-24, 4440 centers have been opened so far.

Till now 163061 farmers have shown interest

Giving this information today, State Food Commissioner Saurabh Babu said that online registration of farmers for purchase was started from July 1 and till now 163061 farmers have been registered. He said that for the purchase of paddy and coarse grains, Sacks are available in sufficient quantity. Food Commissioner said that maize, millet and jowar will be purchased in the state under coarse grains. The minimum support price of maize will be purchased at the fixed rate of Rs 2090 per quintal, millet at Rs 2500 per quintal, jowar (hybrid) at Rs 3180 per quintal, jowar (maldandi) at Rs 3225 per quintal and the support price of kodo at Rs 3,846 per quintal. The procurement of maize, millet and jowar will be from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.

Maximum purchase of maize will be done in 29 districts

Saurabh Babu said that the main maize producing districts of the state are 29 Bulandshahr, Hapur, Saharanpur, Badaun, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Unnao, Sitapur, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Auraiya, It is proposed to purchase maize in Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, Ballia, Jaunpur Deoria, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Lakhimpur Kheri, Azamgarh and Lalitpur.

Millet will be procured in these districts

The main millet producing 40 districts of the state are Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bareilly, Badayun, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras, Agra, Mathura Mainpuri, Firozabad, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur city. It is proposed to purchase millet in Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Ballia, Mirzapur, Santarvidas Nagar, Jalaun, Chitrakoot, Banda, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur and Pratapgarh.

2092 farmers registered to sell coarse grains

Apart from this, for the first time in the state, 22 major jowar producing districts are Banda Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kaushambi Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Unnao, Hardoi, Sultanpur, Amethi, Mirzapur, Jalaun. Jowar will be procured in Ayodhya and Varanasi. He said that in the upcoming procurement season, procurement of coarse grains and millets as well as minor millets (Kodo) is proposed in Sonbhadra district. Support price of Ragi in Kharif marketing year 2023-24. The price has been fixed at Rs 3846.00 per quintal. Online farmer registration for the sale of coarse grains has been started from August 01, 2023 and till now 2092 farmers have registered.
