Priest murdered after stealing idol from temple in Saran

In the Ram Janaki temple located at Majhanpura in the Manjhi police station area of ​​Saran, criminals have killed the priest of the temple and stolen the idol from the temple. The deceased priest is said to be Shankar Das, son of Motilal Pal, resident of Daya Chhapra village of Bairia police station area of ​​Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the information, the incident of idol theft was carried out in the temple by criminals on Monday night. During this time, the priest of the temple was murdered by tying his mouth with a towel. Local people who reached the temple in the morning saw that the main door of the temple was closed. When the door did not open for a long time, people went closer and saw that the door of the temple was broken and the priest had been murdered.

After the murder of the priest, angry villagers blocked the Chhapra-Manjhi main road and demanded the arrest of the criminals. The villagers alleged that the police closes the file only after supplying food. The villagers were demanding to call the SP. Passengers had to face a lot of trouble during the road jam. Motorcyclists kept traveling from nearby villages. Due to road jam, there were long queues of four-wheelers on both sides.

Dog squad and FSL team investigated

FSL team and dog squad reached the spot and investigated. After much persuasion by Sadar SDO Sanjay Kumar Rai and SDPO 2 Raj Kumar and assurance of arresting the criminals, the road jam was removed.

Formation of SIT

SP Dr Gaurav Mangala has formed a SIT team under the leadership of SDPO 2 to arrest the culprits in the case of idol theft and priest murder. The team will be led by SDPO Raj Kumar. Apart from Ekma Zone Police Inspector Virendra Kumar Singh, this team includes Manjhi Police Station Head Amit Kumar Ram, Additional Police Station Head Praveen Kumar and Baniyapur Police Station Head Ashutosh Kumar.

What do the villagers say?

Villagers told that in the year 2006, three Ashtadhatu idols of Ram Janaki were stolen from Ram Janaki temple Majhanpura by taking the priest hostage. The criminals had stolen the idol by holding the then priest Girdhari Das hostage. Till date, the police has not got any success in the idol theft case and the file of this case has also been closed. When the stolen idol is not found, a stone idol is installed in this temple and worship is done.

Police is setting up camp on the spot

Police is camping at the incident site and is busy investigating the matter. The police have taken the body in their custody and sent it to Chhapra Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. SP Dr. Gaurav Mangla said that SIT has been formed. The criminals will be arrested soon.
