Ranchi: On the occasion of Republic Day-2024, the Union Home Ministry has awarded Police Medal to a total of 36 police officers and personnel including two IPS officers of Jharkhand. Of these, 23 police officers and personnel have been awarded the Gallantry Medal, 12 police officers and personnel have been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and one police officer has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Home Department.

Case one:
There was an encounter with PLFI militants in Kamdara, Gumla:
On 24 September 2019, there was an encounter between police and militants in Kamdara police station area of Gumla district. In this, the then SDPO Rishabh Kumar Jha (IPS), ASP Anurag Raj, DSP Deepak Kumar, Inspector Sadanand Singh, Constable Yakub Surin and Constable Ashok Kumar displayed indomitable courage and bravery and gave a befitting reply to the PLFI militants in the encounter. 10 lakhs in this Bounty militants Guju Gop, Vishnu Singh and Sameer Kandulna were killed. While another militant Santosh Yadav carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh was arrested. A large quantity of weapons and bullets were also recovered.

Success was achieved in Maoist encounter in Bishnupur, Gumla.,
On April 1, 2020, there was an encounter with the police and Ravindra Ganjhu squad of Maoists in Bishnupur police station area of Gumla. In this, Maoist area commander Dinu Oraon, carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh, was killed. In the said incident, ASP Brijendra Kumar Mishra of Gumla district, constable Asgar Ali, constable Ranjit Kumar and constable Sheikh Sikandar had shown indomitable courage and bravery.

Shanichar Surin, carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh, was killed in Khunti.,
There was an encounter with Khunti police and PLFI supremo Dinesh Gop squad in the forested hilly area under Gudri police station area of Chaibasa. In this, militant Shanichar Surin, carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh, was killed. 84 cases were registered against the said militant in Khunti, Chaibasa and Gumla districts. In the encounter, Khunti’s DSP Omprakash Tiwari, Inspector Digvijay Singh, Inspector Roshan Kumar Singh and Constable Anoop Lakra displayed indomitable courage and bravery.

Laka Pahan carrying a reward of five lakhs was killed,
Militant Laka Pahan, carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh, was killed in an encounter with the police in Murhu police station area of Khunti. 61 cases are registered against this in Khunti, Chaibasa and Ranchi districts. In the said incident, Inspector Vikrant Kumar, Havildar Fabianus Tirkey, Havildar Narayan Manjhi, Havildar Amit Kumar, Constable Anil Oraon and Constable Baburam Baski had shown indomitable courage and bravery.

Militant Punit Oraon was killed in Nagari:
PLFI militant Punit Oraon alias Punai Oraon was killed in an encounter with the police in Nagdi police station area of Ranchi. In this incident, Inspector Rajiv Kumar, Constable Krishna Oraon and Constable Vinay Tete had shown indomitable courage and bravery.
