President Draupadi Murmu was overjoyed to see the long queue of daughters at the convocation ceremony, described it as a picture of developed India.

Patna. President Draupadi Murmu said that I was very happy to know that 60 percent of those who got first position from this university are girl students. I thank him for this achievement. I can see the form of developed India here. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi always talked about providing equal education opportunities to the students. This thought of Gandhiji should always be kept in mind. Many personalities from here had made important contributions in his Champaran Satyagraha. President Draupadi Murmu was addressing the first convocation ceremony held in the auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari on Thursday.

Champaran is rich in history and forest wealth

He said that I am very happy to attend the first convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, established in East Champaran, Bapu’s birthplace. I congratulate and best wishes to all those who received the degree today. Today two distinguished persons have been awarded honorary doctorates. I also specially congratulate him. Referring to the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the President said that he has discussed Gandhiji’s stay in Champaran in his autobiography. Gandhiji had called upon people to adopt the path of social equality and unity. There is Valmiki Tiger Reserve here. This land is rich in history and forest wealth. There are immense possibilities of tourism here. I once again extend my best wishes to all of you who get education on this land of Lord Buddha and Bapu and hoist the flag of education.

Governor advised to become a job creator

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that I congratulate and felicitate the people honored in this convocation. It is a matter of good fortune for the President to participate in this program. The Chief Minister has announced in this program today that land will be made available to Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari within three days. There should be maximum publicity of this university. This is the responsibility of all of us. Our behavior and conduct is our identity. It does not happen just by having feelings in the mind. The National Education Policy has started being followed here. By following the policy, the future of the young generation will be better. I request you to become a job creator by adopting all the government schemes, for which determination is required.

Floral tribute to Bapu’s statue

Before this, President Draupadi Murmu, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formally inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, floral tributes were offered to the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari administered the oath to the students receiving degrees. The President honored the students passed out from various departments of undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari with medals and citations and the title of Chancellor’s Gold Medal. The guests entered the Mahatma Gandhi Auditorium, Motihari with the academic procession.

Two people received honorary degrees

At the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Professor Sanjay Srivastava welcomed the President, Governor and Chief Minister by presenting them corsets, souvenirs, Madhubani paintings and people of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari. First of all, in the convocation ceremony, the President honored famous industrialist, writer, social thinker RK Sinha and Indian actor, film director and screenwriter Chandra Prakash Dwivedi with honorary doctorate degrees. The national anthem was played by the band of Sashastra Seema Bal in the ceremony.
