Preparations begin for 16 day strike regarding demands of coal workers

Central trade unions HMS, INTUC, AITUC and CITU have announced a strike in Coal India on 16 February. Coal workers have started preparations to go on strike. Trade union leaders are also holding beat-meetings among the workers to go on strike. The strike has been called against privatization in the coal industry and on many other issues. In Ramgarh district, the effect of the strike can be seen at CCL’s Rajarappa, Barka-Syal, Argadda, Kuju, CRS, Barkakana, Mines Rescue Station and other places. Here, the regional management has also started preparing for the strike. For this, he will call a meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee and appeal not to go on strike. Control room is also being built. In this, data of presence and absence of workers for all three shifts will be collected.

Preparations for strike are underway for the second time within four months

The trade union had called a meeting in Ranchi on September 14 regarding the Wage Board. In the meeting, as per NCWA 11, a three-day strike was announced from October 5 to 7 due to non-payment of salaries for September. On October 27, a meeting of leaders was held with the Chairman of Coal India regarding the three-day strike in Delhi. In this, the management has been given time to withdraw the strike from October 5 to 7. A three-day strike was announced from October 12. A hearing regarding this matter was held in Jabalpur High Court on October 9. The wage board restarted after the court granted a stay. An order has been issued to pay September salary as per NCWA 11. This is still going on.

There will be a strike after five days, no joint front meeting has taken place

The trade union leaders of Kuju area have maintained silence regarding the strike to be held on 16th February. There will be a strike after five days. Till now no meeting of the United Front has taken place. The people of the labor organization have not been able to reach among the workers till now. The workers are not being told why the strike will take place. In CCL Kuju area, many other labor organizations including Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, Jharkhand Colliery Mazdoor Union, CCL Colliery Employees Union, All Jharkhand Coal Workers Union, Coal Field Mazdoor Union, Janata Mazdoor Sangh, United Coal Workers Union have come together to protect the interests of the workers. Let’s raise our voice. CCL Colliery Employees Union is separate from the strike.

Strike is being conducted for the rights and rights of workers

Jagdish Mahato, Kuju regional secretary of Janata Mazdoor Sangh, said that in the past also a demand letter had been given to Coal India regarding the demands of the workers. Till now no initiative has been taken by Coal India. The facilities provided to laborers have also been cut by the Central Government. There will be a strike on all these issues.
