Preparation for Lok Sabha elections begins in Bihar, EVM testing will begin in the districts from tomorrow.

The Election Commission of India has started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The work of checking EVMs in the districts of Bihar will start from Sunday. In the first phase, EVMs will be tested in six districts. Here, the Commission organized a workshop on Friday to provide information about the use of EVMs sent to the districts for the Lok Sabha elections. In the workshop, a training camp for District Magistrates cum District Election Officers of all the districts of the state was called in Patna. This time in the Lok Sabha elections, voting is to be conducted with EVM Model-3. Training was given on VVPAT along with its control unit and ballot unit.

Officers from all the districts were invited to the workshop.

Chief Electoral Officer HR Srinivas had invited all the District Election Officers and District Magistrates, Deputy Election Officers of all the districts and FLC (First Level Investigation) Supervisors in the workshop. In the workshop, the Chief Electoral Officer gave information about the necessary protocols related to EVM and VVPAT. All DMs were told that effective management of EVMs is the most essential point for the success of election work. In this, information was given about the process from security of EVM to voting, sealing and counting of votes.

Technical information given to officials

State Nodal Officer of EVM Dheeraj Kumar and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Mishra gave technical information about the administrative safeguard and FLC process related to EVM. Prakash Chandra Mandal, Deputy General Manager of EVM manufacturing company Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad, gave practical training of EVM to all the participants.

Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Election Department Mithilesh Sahu, Under Secretary of Election Commission of India OP Sahni, Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu and EVM Nodal Officer V Sridhar were present in the workshop. District Magistrates along with other officials were mainly given information about the security standards of EVMs. Also, technical security was explained in detail. It is known that more than one lakh ballot units, control units and VV Pats have been supplied by ISIL to the districts in the state.

Investigation will start in six districts

Before the Lok Sabha elections, the work of first level checking of EVMs in six districts of the state will start from Sunday. In the first phase, ballot units, control units and VVPATs placed in six districts will be examined. In this, there will be first level checking of EVMs kept in the warehouses of Patna, Gaya, Sitamarhi, Purnia, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur districts. In the first phase, after investigation by the engineers available in six districts, the investigation work will be carried forward in other districts.
