Prakhar Chaturvedi’s bat against Mumbai

Playing against Mumbai in the Cooch Behar Trophy on Monday, Chaturvedi scored a big score in the first innings of the title clash of the annual four-day tournament for Under-19 cricketers. Chaturvedi opened the innings for Karnataka and stood at the crease until his team declared the innings. During his record-making innings, he faced 638 balls and scored an unbeaten 404 runs with the help of 46 fours and 3 sixes.

Second highest score of Cooch Behar Toffee

On the strength of Chaturvedi’s brilliant innings, Karnataka scored a huge score of 890 runs at the loss of eight wickets in 223 overs in its first innings before declaring the innings. He broke former India’s star batsman Yuvraj Singh’s 24-year-old record of 358 runs. Yuvraj had achieved this feat against Bihar in 1999. This was the previous highest individual score in the final of the tournament. The highest individual score so far in this trophy is 451 runs, which was made by Vijay Jol of Maharashtra against Assam in 2011-12. But this score was not made in the final. Prakhar is now at number two.
